Premio Incinque Jewels is the flagship event of the Roma Jewelry Week 2021. It is an international prize competition which intends to promote the culture of contemporary jewelry in Rome. The contest is promoted by Incinque Open Art Monti Cultural Association in Rome and it is edited by Project Director Monica Cecchini, Architect, and Art Director Emanuele Leonardi, Jewelry Designer author of “Gioiello Narratore”.
For the first time the Premio Incinque Jewels will be the main event of Roma Jewelry Week first edition, that will involve associations, goldsmiths schools, and workshops carefully selected. A not to be missed program dedicated entirely to artistic jewels dissemination and promotion.
The exhibition will take place from 15 to 17 October 2021 at the archaeological site “Auditorium di Mecenate” in Rome, dated 30 b.C. It is an ancient nymphaeum built by Gaio Cilnio Mecenate, advisor to Emperor Augustus and patron of writers and poets, he who we could define as kind of ancient minister of Culture. Having the chance to exhibit at the Auditorium di Mecenate has extraordinary value, not only because for this occasion it will be open to the audience but also because it was the venue where Virgilio and Orazio declaimed their verses, and where the sharing of art was promoted. Hence the term patronage.
The collective exhibition will be the result of a careful selection of goldsmith artistic creations by a jury of expert in the field: Laura Astrologo Porché, Celebre Magazine World jewelry journalist and owner of Instagram page @journaldesbijoux, Barbara Brocchi, Creative Manager, Illustrator, writer, designer and IED Teacher, Banca Cappello, jewelry and costume jewelry historian, teacher and author of many books and articles, Eugenia Gadaleta, press consultant and creator of Milano Jewellery Tour project, Emanuele Leonardi, Premio Incinque Jewels Art Director and goldsmith artist creator of “Gioiello Narratore”, Matilde Pavone high jewelry master goldsmith, coordinator and teacher of the jewelry design course at the Accademia Italiana Roma, Marina Valli, jewel designer, President of the roman “Officine dei Talenti Preziosi” OTP and teacher in jewelry design, Jonathan Giustini writer and journalist and Monica Cecchini, Architect, Designer and Art Event curator, Open Art Monti Cultural Association’s President and founder of the Roma Jewelry Week project.
Conviviality, Interdisciplinarity, Social Regeneration and Joy are the themes chosen for the second edition of the contest. Premio Incinque Jewels this year wants to encourage reflection on “recovering the gestures and spirits of conviviality for a social regeneration” and create a dialogue between those who create the artwork and those who observe it. It wants to investigate the meaning of the jewel as a symbolic object, not only as an artistic ornament important only for its precious materiality, but as the bearer of a message of social value.
It is a very important and heartfelt theme in this extremely difficult historical period in which there is a great desire to restart with a new spirit and to put Arts at the center.
Participants are asked to think and project a jewel that enhances the ancient arts and that can create a link with contemporary art. They are asked to question themselves about the value of sharing ideas, feelings and moods; about how our inner space can change outer space; about how interpersonal relationships can change the future and how much this affects aspects related to sustainability.
The three winners will have the opportunity to exhibit their creations with a personal exhibition for the first classified and a two-person exhibition for the second and the third classified at Incinque Open Art Monti Gallery in Rome. Furthermore a special professional press kit prize will be offered by press consultant Eugenia Gadaleta, it will be an indispensable tool to make one’s creations known on the media.

Starting from the Italian cultural roots, from a past of excellence in the goldsmith arts valued in the world and still alive in some district of the country today, the purpose of the exhibition linked to the contest is to generate new creative lymph by promoting the culture and knowledge of contemporary jewelry in the city of Rome, center historically delegated to art and creativity.

Il concorso internazionale, alla sua seconda edizione, intende valorizzare la cultura del gioiello contemporaneo a Roma. Il contest è promosso dall’associazione Culturale Incinque Open Art Monti di Roma e curato dall’architetto Monica Cecchini direttore del progetto e dall’art director Jewelry Emanuele Leonardi, autore del “gioiello narratore”.
Per la prima volta Incinque Jewels sarà l’evento protagonista della prima edizione della Roma Jewellery Week, manifestazione che vedrà coinvolte associazioni, scuole orafe, laboratori e atelier altamente selezionati. Un imperdibile palinsesto dedicato interamente alla divulgazione e promozione del gioiello d’artista, di ricerca, d’autore.
L’esibizione si terrà dal 15 al 17 ottobre 2021, in una inedita location: il sito archeologico “Auditorium di Mecenate” di Roma risalente al 30 a.C.. Si tratta di un antico ninfeo fatto costruire da Gaio Cilnio Mecenate, consigliere di Augusto e protettore di letterati e poeti, colui che oggi potremmo definire un antico ministro della cultura. Esporre nell’Auditorium di Mecenate ha, dunque, un valore straordinario, non solo perché per l’occasione sarà accessibile al pubblico, ma anche perché è il sito dove Virgilio e Orazio declamavano i loro versi, e dove si promuoveva la condivisione nell’arte. Se ancora oggi utilizziamo il termine mecenatismo per indicare il sostegno economico a iniziative e progetti artistici o culturali, lo dobbiamo proprio a Mecenate.
La mostra collettiva sarà il frutto di una accurata selezione di creazioni orafe artistiche da parte di una giuria di esperti del settore: Laura Astrologo Porché, jewelry journalist per il gruppo Celebre Magazine World e titolare della pagina Instagram @journaldesbijoux, Barbara Brocchi, Creative Manager, Illustratrice, Scrittrice, Designer, Docente IED, Bianca Cappello, storica e critica del gioiello, docente e autrice di diverse pubblicazioni sul gioiello e sulla bigiotteria, Eugenia Gadaleta, consulente di comunicazione e fondatrice del progetto Milano Jewellery Tour, Emanuele Leonardi, art director Jewelry del Premio Incinque Jewels, artista orafo del “Gioiello Narratore”, Matilde Pavone, Maestro orafo specializzato in Alta gioielleria, coordinatore e docente del corso in design del gioiello di Accademia Italiana Roma, Marina Valli, Designer del gioiello, presidente dell’associazione romana Officine dei Talenti Preziosi OTP e docente in Design del Gioiello, Jonathan Giustini scrittore e giornalista e Monica Cecchini, architetto, designer e curatrice di eventi d’arte presidente dell’Associazione Culturale Incinque Open Art Monti, e fondatrice del progetto Roma Jewelry Week.
Convivialità, interdisciplinarità, rigenerazione sociale e gioia sono i temi scelti per la seconda edizione del concorso. Il Premio Incinque Jewels quest’anno vuole favorire una riflessione sul tema del “recuperare i gesti e gli animi di convivialità per una rigenerazione sociale” e creare un dialogo tra chi realizza l’opera e chi la osserva. Vuole indagare la funzione del gioiello come oggetto simbolico, non solo ornamento dalla valenza artistica e dall’importanza riconosciuta spesso unicamente per la sua matericità preziosa, ma portatore di un messaggio dal valore sociale. Un tema molto importante e sentito in questo periodo storico estremamente difficile, in cui è tantissima la voglia di ripartire con un nuovo spirito e di mettere al centro l’arte.
Si chiede ai partecipanti di pensare e progettare un gioiello che valorizzi le antiche arti e che possa creare un legame con l’arte contemporanea, di interrogarsi sul valore della condivisione di idee, sentimenti, stati d’animo. Su come il nostro spazio interiore può cambiare lo spazio esterno, come i rapporti interpersonali possano cambiare il futuro e quanto questo influisca su aspetti legati alla sostenibilità.
I tre vincitori avranno la possibilità di esporre le loro creazioni con una personale per il primo classificato e una bipersonale per il secondo e terzo classificato presso la galleria Incinque Open Art Monti di Roma. Un premio speciale di comunicazione per il gioiello sarà offerto dalla consulente e docente Eugenia Gadaleta che consiste in un press kit professionale e una consulenza di comunicazione, strumenti indispensabili per far conoscere le proprie creazioni tramite i media.
